Piccalilly

We source our chemical free organic cotton from an amazing project called Chetna Organic. It’s a fair-trade cotton programme with a mission to improve the livelihood of smallholder farmers by making their farm systems more sustainable and profitable.

The Chetna farmers also own a 10% equity stake in the factory who make our clothes and the cotton farmers are pre-financed and guaranteed stable cotton prices and a premium to spend within their local community.
Our manufacturing partner takes ownership direct from the farmers enabling us to have 100% transparency in the manufacturing process from field through to factory.

In 2008 Chetna became the first cotton farmers organisation in India to receive Fairtrade Certification. All our cotton is grown by small marginal farmers without the use of child labour, chemicals and GMOs.

Garments manufactured using Chetna Cotton have complete traceability down to the farmers field it has been grown in!

Conventional cotton is one of the most heavily sprayed crops. Our organic cotton is grown without the use of nasty chemical pesticides and fertilizers making it kinder to wear on delicate skin. It’s also healthier to the farmers who grow it and healthier for wildlife eco-systems too.

We pay a fair price for our garments ensuring the farmers who grow our cotton and the people who make our garments receive a living wage. Our garment makers receive extra benefits including free lunches, healthcare and funding towards their education.

Piccalilly clothes are made for kids, not by kids. By working to the highest levels of social compliance you have the certainty that our products are child labour free.

Excessive use of chemicals in conventional cotton production has led to a great deal of environmental pollution. Organic cotton uses less water and maintains healthy soils making crops more resilient. It also keeps the local environment pollution free ensuring a healthy life for the farmers and their families.
